A home lift is typically classified as a freestanding self-contained device that allows for easy access between the floors of a home. Home lifts are easily retrofitted to an existing home because of their design. A residential elevator has a hoistway, pit and a mechanical room. Because of their requirements residential elevators are primarily used for new construction builds or room addition scenarios.
Benefits of a home lift are numerous. Because of their compact size they can be tucked away in the corner of a room and they do not take up much floor space. Home lifts also require very little infrastructure to be placed in the home unlike a residential elevator. Home lifts only require a 220v 15amp circuit to run.
Because our residential elevators are each custom built we have almost endless size and aesthetic design options. Residential elevators also boast a much higher weight capacity (up to 1500 LBS) Cab size is often much larger on residential elevators when compared to home lifts making them more useful for moving large items like furniture throughout the different levels of the home.
Our residential elevators start at $23,000 installed. See our interactive Cambridge elevating product pages for pricing on different models and options.

Our Stiltz Trio Alta home lift will accommodate a standard wheelchair with ease. Thanks to it’s innovative floor design with a built in ramp a pit is not necessary for wheelchair access.
Our Cambridge Elevating residential elevators are powered by two circuits. We require a 220v 30-50 amp circuit to power our hydraulic pump and a 110v 15 amp circuit to power the cab lights.
